Digital Harwich is a day of FREE interactive fun! Play games from local game developers, get hands on with exciting technology and enjoy free workshops.
Digital Harwich is a family friendly event celebrating digital creativity with a day free and fun workshops and activities at Harwich Arts and Heritage Centre, brought to you by Signals.
WHAT TO EXPECT
We’ll have hands on activities, interactive exhibits and even free workshops where you can make your own digital art.
In partnership with Game Anglia we’re showcasing a number of local game developers who will be sharing their exciting new projects. Plus, we’ll have the next generation of game designers from Colchester Institute who will be displaying their projects.
We also have researchers from the University of Essex displaying cutting edge technology, including a video game made using underwater 3D scans of the Norfolk coastline.
Signals will be running workshops throughout the day. No previous experience is required for any of the sessions, and all equipment is provided by Signals. Places are free but booking is essential.
10:30am – 11:30am: Stop Motion Animation, 7+
Create miniature sets and characters, then bring your story to life through stop motion animation.
12:00pm – 1pm: Video Game Making, 9+
Learn how to make your own video game using Scratch – a fun game design software! With Scratch, you can program your own interactive stories, games, and animations — and share your creations with others in the online community.
1:30pm – 2:30pm: Musical Robot Building, 9+
Making your own musical robot using Microbit computers and discover how to control motors using code to make your own robotic beats.
