Show Bio
A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Abridged) by William Shakespeare
On Midsummer’s Night, the real and fairy worlds collide.
Four young lovers, faced with the prospect of unhappy marriage or worse, flee the court of Athens and stumble into an enchanted forest. Nearby, a group of amateur actors rehearse a play to celebrate an upcoming royal wedding.
As these mere mortals cross paths with a warring fairy King and Queen, chaos reigns in the natural world. The lines between reality and illusion start to blur and no-one but mischievous Puck knows what is true and what is magic.
The RSC Associate Schools’ programme is the RSC’s long-term partnership programme with schools and regional theatres across England.
The Playmaking Festival is a celebration of the talent and voices of young people from our region. Each night, around a hundred students from across the East of England will collaborate to perform an abridged version of Shakespeare’s captivating comedy.
This year’s festival marks the culmination of the sixth year of the Associate Schools’ programme in our region, showcasing the work and partnership of a cluster of primary and secondary schools, led by Ormiston Sudbury Academy, one of the RSC’s Lead Associate Schools.
