Bring your little ones to Nature Tots at Naze Nature Discovery Centre for a magical morning of nature play! This under-5s session features:
- 🌲 Natural sensory activities
- 🏞️ Small world and role play
- 💦 Sand and water play (weather permitting)
January’s session is all about animals in winter – learn about hibernating hedgehogs and discover how birds stay busy during the colder months!
📌 Activities will be based in the education room, with some fun outdoors (weather allowing). Don’t forget, siblings under 18 months attend free of charge, but adult supervision is required.

The Naze Nature Discovery Centre is a haven for nature lovers, history enthusiasts, and those seeking an unforgettable coastal experience. Located in Walton-on-the-Naze, this 45-hectare reserve is a stunning blend of terrestrial and marine habitats. It’s an essential stop for migrating birds and features remarkable geological formations, including the iconic 50-million-year-old cliffs, designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Visitors can enjoy wildlife spotting, from barn owls over the grasslands to seals in the backwaters. The area is also home to the historic Naze Tower and fascinating relics of military history.
Parking Information
The car park, managed by Tendring District Council, requires a ticket after 10:30 AM. Parking fees range from £1.20 for 1 hour to £5.00 for all-day parking. Evening parking is available for £1.00. The car park closes at 9 PM in summer and 6 PM in winter. Limited disabled parking is available near the Nature Discovery Centre.
Public Transport
Walton-on-the-Naze railway station is approximately 1 mile away, with regular connections to nearby towns. From the station, it’s a pleasant walk or a short taxi ride to the centre. Local buses also serve the area, with stops close to Old Hall Lane.
